In May 1998 during a routine mammogram, microscopic calcifications were discovered in my left breast, which led to a biopsy. The results showed I had Ductal Carcinoma Insitu (DCIS), a form of noninvasive breast cancer. Several treatment options were considered, but I ultimately opted to go with a bilateral mastectomy to rid myself of the cancer and greatly reduce the possibility that it could come back (99% cure rate).

After a few weeks of recuperation, and months of preparing for reconstructive surgery, I was finally able to put it all behind me and get on with my full and active life.

In June 1999, I discovered a marble-sized lump in my left armpit. What follows is a chronicle of my journey through another cancer phase of my life.
